More and more BICs and EBN members have been introduced to the “quality” opportunities stemming from EBN’s management of the EC-BIC logo.
Indeed during the Quality seminar “a focus on the BICS: facts and forecasts” many elements characterizing the BICs have been analyzed, confronting the 2004 and the 2009 data.
What will be the 2020 BIC like? hard to say, but for sure a constant specialization has been the key element that in the last 6 years has contributed to the success of the BIC world.
Quality and the EC-BIC logo can contribute to increase the acknowledgement of the work undergone by the BICs, and if the common “quality” vision is shared, it can contribute to it not only through the improved positioning of the EC-BIC standards, but also through the development of services which may very well serve the scope.

Presentations were made by Giordano Dichter, quality manager of EBN, who took the audience into a walk through the BIC observatories during the years, Mr Luigi Campitelli, Director of BIC Lazio and past president of EBN, who pointed out the need of increasing networking activities and the need of creating more and more project opportunities among EBN members.

Mr. Olivier Tomat, Director of CEEI Provence pointed out that the “Brick and mortar” type of services are being, and need to be, replaced with more and more specialized services, from virtual incubation to increased access opportunities to international markets. BICs should be seen as nodal & starting point of emerging clusters, supporting targeted economic development strategies.
In the second part of the workshop Gonçalo Reis, EBN quality officer described the services which have been, and are being, engineered within the quality team, within its functions of “experimental lab”:
Mr. Desmond Fahey, CEO of Dublin BIC, went deeper in describing the benchmarking exercise the BIC has undertaken with the support of EBN, highlighting the importance of benchmarking and the possibilities coming out from an appropriate use of EBN’s quality system.
